5 Criteria for Probiotics

Not just any microorganism has what it take to be a probiotic. To qualify as a beneficial microorganism and thus earn the title of “probiotic” the following criteria must be met.

1. 1) It must be resistant to the bile and acids.

1. 2) It must be able to attach itself successfully to the gastrointestinal tract.

1. 3) It must be able to remain metabolically active once it reaches the gastrointestinal tract.

1. 4) It must be able to damage, destroy or otherwise render harmless disease causing (pathogenic) bacteria.

1. 5) It must balance PH levels in the colon.

Beneficial bacteria perform

* · Acid in digestion

* · Assist in the absorption of nutrition

* · Help prevent skin problems

* · Fight yeast and fungal infections, in diving Candida

* · Stimulate function of the immune system

* · Keep pathogens (disease-causing organisms) in check

* · Prevent and control diarrhea

* · Enhance calcium metabolism, which help prevent otesoporisis

* · Helps maintain a balance PH

* · Helps produce vitamin K and B vitamins

* · Helps regulate activity of the bowl

* · Help decrease the number of carcinogenic components in the intestinal tract

* · Inhibit the formation of tumors

* · Assist in liver function and detoxification

* · Reduce the accumulation of cholesterol and plague in the arteries.
